Event Description The event will be hosted at Radisson Hotel at the University of Toledo Toledo Ohio in a classroom-like setting. This enclosed room comes equipped with audio gear projectorwhite screen and a podium and can comfortably seat up to 200 people. Dr. Bailey will discuss and review unusual cases she has faced during her residency that Optometrists may not face every day. The discussion will include three different cases prevalence of optic disc hemorrhages associated with subclinical buried optic disc drusen prevalence of an unusual retinal condition and pertinent testing to ensure accurate diagnosis for an unusual case of sudden loss of vision. Dr. Bailey will cover clinical findings testing management and clinical pearls for each unusual case. Dr. Trujillo will discuss and review the understanding of blood labs from a primary care practitioner. The discussion will include when to order blood labs in eye care based off conditions such as autoimmune diseases inflammatory diseases infectious diseases and more. Dr. Trujillo will cover the findings after receiving blood labs and diagnosing after interpreting. Dr. Bejot will discuss and review unusual cases of glaucoma Optometrists may not face every day. The discussion will include treatment management and differences between open and closed angle glaucoma. Dr. Bejot will cover different types of glaucomas such as pigmentary uveitic angle recession pseudoexfoliateive traumatic steroid induces and neovascular glaucoma. Dr. John McGreal will review all the latest treatment paradigms used in medicine for the treatment of systemic diseases. It covers many different specialties including cardiovascular endocrinediabetes womens healthcare neurologypsychiatry and others. Medicine updates are critical for eyecare providers to remain contemporary. Dr. John McGreal will also update practioners on the latest information from DEWS II report on dry eye a comprehensive review of the disease new diagnostic and therapeutic modalities as well as a systematic approach to its treatment Dr. John McGreal will finish his presentation discussing the latest trends in glaucoma diagnosis and treatments surgical modalities and emerging trends on diagnostics will be discussed. Routine post-op care is pretty easy most of the time complications are rare results generally good and patients are usually happy but not always Dr. Brown will discuss unusual post-op care that isnt so routine. Dr. Brown will present many different post-op cases including LASIK ingrowths dry eyes ectasia cross-linking cataract surgery cornea care and more. Dr. Brown will discuss his steps to resolve each unusual case. Dr. Bernsteins lecture will summarize etiology pathogenesis and clinical characteristics of vitreo-macular interface disorders. This lecture will educate the audience regarding the conditions such as macular pucker vitreo-macular adhesion vitreo-macular traction macular holes and posterior hyloid traction syndrome. Dr. Bernstein will define and present signs and symptoms of each condition. Dr. Multerer will discuss and review non-AMD causes of choroidal neovascularization such as pathologic myopia CNV secondary to CSC angioid streaks and idiopathic CNV. Dr. Multerer will discuss the treatment of choroidal neovascularization including antiVEGF photodynamic therapy with verteporfin and laser treatment. Dr. Multerer will include clinical presentations on syndromes such as Multiple Evanescent white dot syndrome acute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy serpiginous choroiditis multifocal choroiditis and panuveitis and birdshot retinochoroidopathy.
