- Herpes simplex and herpes zoster eye disease remain among the most challenging causes of ocular morbidity worldwide. These viruses establish lifelong latency and may recur unpredictably, affecting nearly every ocular structure. This course reviews the ocular manifestations of herpes simplex virus (HSV) and varicella-zoster virus (VZV), with an emphasis on anterior segment disease, diagnostic testing, and evidence-based management strategies. Attendees will gain clinical insight into identifying and differentiating epithelial, stromal, and uveal disease and will understand the rationale for antiviral and corticosteroid therapy through the findings of clinical studies and practical cases.
