- One of the most common retinal vascular diseases we see in our practice today is diabetic retinopathy (DR). As eye care providers, we play a critical role in the overall management of the patient with diabetes, which goes beyond screening for DR. This presentation will review practical steps optometrists can take in the overall management of the patient with diabetes, including coordination of care with other team care members.
