Description:
This course will discuss corneal ulcers, specifically bacterial and fungal ulcers. How to identify the micro-organism with a culture will be discussed. The various types of cultures will be discussed and what organisms each culture aids in identifying. Treatment options will be discussed, specifically choosing the correct antibiotic and the dilemma with using steroids. The use of amniotic membranes will be discussed for their use in treatment of corneal ulcers and other corneal disorders.
