This course covers all elements of a Vision Conservation and Readiness Program. Instruction concentrates on regulatory requirements and recommended practices to establish or enhance an installation vision conservation and readiness program. The team aspect of coordinating safety occupational health industrial hygiene and optometry personnel is emphasized.
PART 1 Is the Online portion of the course and is Mandatory for ALL Non-Ophthalmic Personnel. This online
8 hours course provides non-ophthalmic personnel with essential terminology and background information on the eye and visual system. Topics covered include Basic Optics Anatomy Physiology of the Eye Occupational Vision Vision Screening Devices Ocular Emergencies Urgencies Radiant Energy Lasers and Illumination. All online modules and the live course must be completed to receive credit. Ophthalmic personnel are welcome to take the online course however no CE hours will be awarded.
PART 2 Is the Live portion of the course. The live course is scheduled for 2.5 days and instruction concentrates on regulatory requirements and recommended practices to establish or enhance an installation vision conservation and readiness program. Topics covered include Tri-Service Vision Conservation and Readiness TSVCR Program overview tri-service vision conservation regulations and publications military vision readiness incidence of eye injuries mechanicalbiologicalchemical radiant energy eye hazards computer vision syndrome occupational eye protection non-ionizing radiation hazards laser eye protection occupational vision topics ocular hazard analysis workshop a site visit occupational vision testing requirements establishingenhancing a vision conservation program and a vision conservation team panel discussion. The team aspect of coordinating safety occupational health industrial hygiene and optometry personnel is emphasized.
