The event will be hosted at Cleary University Howell in a classroom-like setting. This enclosed room comes equipped with audio gear projectorwhite screen and a podium and can comfortably seat up to 200 people. Dr. Ernest will discuss the history of traditional eye exams using the Snellen eye chart and why the chart does not measure quality. Dr. Ernest will present on the four visually significant higher order aberrations explaining how they affect the quality of vision especially under mesopic conditions. Dr. Ernest will discuss study findings between depth of focus lenses and multifocal lenses with and without using a laser during cataract surgery. Dr. Mark Dunbar will discuss There are over 75 different classes of systemic medications and almost all of them have been associated with ocular side effects. There are several systemic medications that every optometrist needs be aware can cause ocular side-effects This course will uses cases to highlight the ocular side-effects of some key systemic medications as well as discuss strategies to help you determine if any medications your patient is taking is affecting their eyes. Dr. Mark Dunbar will also discuss Optical Coherence Tomography is an exciting imaging technology that has revolutionized our understanding of macular disease and has emerged as an important tool in the management of glaucoma. This lecture will provide a nuts and bolts approach using cases to understanding and interpret the OCT as well as provide clues for advanced interpretation in both retina and glaucoma. Dr. Halm will discuss a case review of Graves Disease defining thyroid orbitopathy and the epidemiology. Dr. Halm will include the pathophysiology and clinical features of thyroid diseases. Dr. Halm will discuss the workup and treatment for management of thyroid diseases. Dr. Purohit will discuss different vitreomacular interface disorders doctors face every day. Dr. Purohit will include different treatment options and when to refer to a retina specialist. Dr. Purohit will discuss different macular holes how to diagnose the issue and different treatment options. Dr. Person will discuss treating managing and referring ophthalmic emergencies including diseases infections and inflammations. Dr. Person will present pain management while treating each emergency including drugs to reduce pain during and after action. Dr. Person will discuss findingsdiagnoses work uppre-treatment drugs surgery procedures and post-treatment drugs for ophthalmic emergencies. Attendees will have a review of Epidemiology of infection. Poor outcomes of infection despite treatment for microbial keratitis after laser vision correction and endophthalmitis. Incedence rate causative organisms Patients own flora vs exogenous. Treatment strategies for prophylaxis and case studies with personal experiences. Dr. Gago will discuss interesting cases on topics such as the white cataract Argentinian flag sign pupils posterior chamber lenses and dealing with zonular dialysis. Dr. Gago will present causes and concerns with each case. Dr. Gago will discuss the process to examine treat and manage each case. Dr. Lavery will discuss an overview of glaucoma and the tools to use during Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery MIGS. Dr. Lavery will present the risks and benefits of current treatment options including a dual blade tool polyamide stent and titanium stent. Dr. Lavery will discuss an overview of new technologies on the horizon for MIGS.
