4. The Florida Optometric Association’s (FOA) Convention will be held July 18-21 at the JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes. The FOA is an 1,800 member a statewide professional association of optometrists that has been providing continuing education programs since 1923. The convention program consists of 24 (attendees can earn up to 22) hours of live COPE Accredited continuing education credits for optometrists and five hours of education for paraoptometrics. An attendance of 325 optometrists, students, and paraoptometrics is expected. The program will provide current and relevant information to enhance clinical skills in the areas of ocular surface disease, neurodegeneration diagnosis and management, cataract card, glaucoma, AMD, and contact lenses. The courses for optometrists were submitted for approval to the Council of Optometric Practitioner Education. The FOA will apply for approval from the Florida Board of Optometry. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with faculty for questions and answers.
