This virtual, interactive conference is intended to better meet the needs of veterans and their families and provide knowledge to create a vibrant and inclusive environment where every individual, whether staff or Veterans, feels seen, heard, and respected. We are meeting this year to dedicate time to celebrate the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives that enrich our community, while we also address the critical need for equity and justice. This conference serves as a platform to bridge the knowledge gap by educating participants on the historical and systemic barriers that have marginalized certain groups, a gap evidenced by ongoing disparities in representation, opportunity, and outcomes across various sectors. Through a series of educational sessions, meaningful dialogues, and collaborative activities, we aim to deepen our understanding of diversity, challenge existing biases, and foster a culture where equity is embedded in every action and decision. For our staff, the expected outcomes include increased cultural competency, enhanced teamwork, and a stronger commitment to inclusive practices that improve the workplace environment. For Veterans, this conference aims to ensure that they feel truly valued and supported, with equitable access to services and opportunities, leading to improved overall well-being and satisfaction. By addressing these issues head-on, we empower both our staff and Veterans to be agents of change, fostering a community where everyone can thrive.
