This live continuing education event, hosted by Omni Eye Services, provides optometrists with clinically relevant updates on key areas of patient care, including keratoconus, cataract and glaucoma management, diabetic retinopathy, intraocular lens selection, and oral medications. Through expert-led lectures, attendees will gain insights into diagnosis, treatment strategies, and clinical decision-making to enhance patient outcomes. Professional Practice Gap Optometrists serve as primary eye care providers and are often the first to detect ocular conditions requiring specialized intervention. Many patients present with vision concerns that may indicate underlying conditions such as keratoconus, cataracts, or retinal disease. Additionally, post-operative management of surgical patients requires an understanding of expected outcomes and potential complications. This program aims to bridge gaps in clinical knowledge by equipping optometrists with the necessary skills to improve detection, treatment, and co-management strategies. Educational Needs Optometrists need: To improve recognition and management of keratoconus and understand treatment options. To enhance decision-making in cataract and glaucoma cases through case-based learning. To identify and appropriately refer diabetic retinopathy cases. To differentiate intraocular lens options and their suitability for various patient needs. To develop competency in prescribing and managing oral medications in optometric practice. Activity Objectives Upon completion of this program, attendees will be able to: Identify clinical signs of keratoconus and discuss treatment approaches. Analyze cataract and glaucoma cases to enhance management strategies. Recognize diabetic retinopathy progression and apply appropriate referral protocols. Compare intraocular lens options and determine patient-specific recommendations. Apply knowledge of oral medications in clinical practice through case-based scenarios. Activity Format This program will be delivered as a live, in-person educational event featuring didactic lectures, case discussions, and interactive Q&A sessions. PowerPoint presentations will include high-quality imaging, scans, and clinical case studies to enhance understanding.
